Thomas Wilson Dorr (1805-1854) was American politician and reformer, best known for leading the Dorr Rebellion in 1841-42 (a failed attempt to force broader democracy in Rhode Island, where a small rural elite was in control of government -- it led to his exile, arrest, and eventual pardon). During the heated political atmosphere, Thomas Dorr and Dan King were nomimated by the suffrage party as representatives to Congress, and King foften wrote in support of Dorr. (Inventory #: JC12569)
