This revision is aimed at the lay reader, specifically the members of the Vegetarian Society. Smith took a very broad view of his subject, considering all of history from biblical times forward, and quoting Moses, Linnaeus, Adam Smith, and so on. In publisher's gilt-titled brown cloth over limp boards, with wear and chipping to the head and foot of the spine. Hinges shaken, otherwise near very good.
