Greenland New Hampshire Decides to Build a Church 1838
Two page manuscript document regarding the First Evangelical Society of Greenland [NH], agreeing to build a church. Dated 1838. The participants agree to buy land and to sell shares to raise the money necessary to build the church. There is language about selling pews after the church is built. Good with the usual folds.

375 pp. Missing the backstrap. Manuscript notes regarding the nature of the cases and whether the order was affirmed, modified or reversed. It includes both criminal and civil cases. Hardin (1832-1901) served on the New York Supreme Court from 1872-1899.

Single sheet, folded. Good condition. Meads offers the couple marital advice including "Conjugal affection is a delicate plant that cannot thrive under indifference"...Personal neatness is necessary for the wife," "should there appear even disturbances of tempers, she should make allowance for agitation of mind, to which men are more liable"..."Let her leave the control of affairs which properly belong to his sphere, to the husband. yet let him not undervalue her opinion" and much more.

Sleeper writes that there have been several fires in the area that he believes were set to get the insurance. He would like them investigated but does not want his neighbors to know that he made this request.

3 Page Letter Francis Moore RE: Royal Almanacks/Anglo Gallic Documents
Moore, Francis. 3 page letter to unidentified recipient. Paris: Dec. 12, 1849. Talks about purchasing Royal Almanacks and says his specialty is Anglo Gallic Documents, of which he posses about 4800. Address part of letter closely cropped, else in good condition. According to Norton's Literary Letter, Moore was a well known collector who had lived in Paris for 50 years. His collection was sold at auction in 1856.

Measures 11" x 8 1/2". Faded stamp at top. Nat and Ed Young escaped from the Newland Jail. They both are described in detail, noting that Ed has a morphine problem and they both hang out around logging camps. It says they will most likely be caught riding on freight trains.

Telegram from A.G. White to Mrs. P.H. Thomas dated August 21, 1852, stating "Father and Mother saved from Steamer Atlantic sunk on Lake Erie
The telegraph company is Troy and Canada Telegraph. Some staining, not examined out of the frame. This telegram was sent one day after the Atlantic sunk killing at least 150 passengers.

Vermont Doctor A.G. Dana Gives Recipe Laudanum to Brandon Vermont Merchants 1829
One page letter from Dr. A. (Anderson) G. (Greene) Dana dated Pittsford VT Jan. 22, 1829 to J.N. Bulton Merchants of Brandon Vermont. Tears on folds. The letter gives directions for making Unguentum Cerulean and Laudanum. Dana was a well known Vermont doctor. In 1814 he gave the first public dissection of a corpse using the body of the murderer James Anthony. See McDade 16.
