2019
by EMILY JENNE
2019. ONE OF A KIND. Gampi paper, flashe, sign painters enamel, metal leaf. Fine. Originally inspired by New York Chinatown shops selling modern takes on joss paper and hell money. Instead of more traditional currency for the afterlife, these took the form of cell phones and convertibles, etc. meant to be burned at a funeral, so as to pass into another dimension for use by the deceased. The logical next question was.."And what will I need int eh afterlife?" These sculptures are a portion of a larger ongoing series of necessities. (Inventory #: 1937)
