BSA NEW SCHOLARS PROGRAM (DEADLINE SEPTEMBER 3) The Bibliographical Society of America's New Scholars Program promotes the work of scholars new to bibliography, broadly defined to include the creation, production, publication, distribution, reception, transmission, and subsequent history of all textual artifacts. This includes manuscript, print, and digital media, from clay and stone to laptops and iPads. Thanks to a recent donation to BSA in honor of Jacob Blanck (1906-1974), the New Scholars Program now provides named support for bibliographical and book historical scholarship focusing on printed works of writers of the United States and their publishers, in addition to the program's Malkin and Pantzer awards. A member reports a blue hard shell bag went missing while being palletized at JFK airport following the NYIABF on April 25th/26th. The bag contained approximately 50 volumes of Judaica and Hebraica: Hebraica 16th -18th century Venice, Amsterdam and Livorno Including a brit milah book with the list of names in manuscript at the rear German, French and English language Judaica 18th to 20th century Including 2 copies of Picart - Customs & Ceremonies - Vol. 1 in English and French with the Jewish and Catholic plates. A parcel sent by FedEx from the UK to a US customer in Chesapeake Beach in Maryland last week, has allegedly been stolen from the front porch on Tuesday March 23rd before they could retrieve the package. The loss has been reported to FedEx, and the customer has made a report to local police. The missing books are: Marie Stopes, Wise Parenthood, London, 1918. First edition in original grey paper backed boards, with printed paper label lettered in red on upper cover, some light cockling to the covers, but otherwise a very good copy. Theodor Van de Velde.
